“Tree Planting Activity formally opened the Women’s Month Celebration of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental”

March is the Women’s Month mandated by Presidential Proclamation Nos. 224 and 227, and Republic Act 6949 provide for the yearly celebration of the 

month of March as National Women’s Month.

This year’s celebration of Calamba’s Women’s Month gives important on the environment. Environment plays an important role for the conservation of life. The Federated Women’s Welfare Association (FWWA) chaired by Sangguniang Bayan Member Judelyn E. Bolotaolo and headed by Liza Beth I. Apepe and the Local Council for Women (LCW) headed by Mrs. Luz B. Villanueva held the Tree Planting as an opening event for the celebration of the Women’s Month 2011.

Mrs. Estela Bolotaolo a Municipal Agriculture Technician gives short seminar to the Women’s Organizations Presidents on the importance of trees in the environment and the procedures on how to plant Falcata seedlings.

After the short seminar the participants proceeds to their respective barangays for the tree planting.

In their small ways the members of the Women’s Organization partakes this event to help the nature in mitigating the global warming for the future of their children and to have a clean and safe environment for the next generation to come.

Tree specie like Falcata seedlings were planted in some parts of the municipality. The efforts of the Women’s Organization Members from the 19 Barangays of the municipality help preserve the environment and lessen global warming.

1,000 Falcata seedlings for community plantation were provided by Provincial Governor of Misamis Occidental Hon. Herminia M. Ramiro thru Board Member Edilma C. Bulawin.

The main goal of the event is to promote the contribution of women in calamity risk awareness especially the so called climate change.
