The synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election were held last October 29, 2007, though the Congress of the Philippines tried to reschedule the Barangay and SK election to May 2008 but it was rejected by the Senate. The Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections were held in the municipality’s 19 barangays.

The day before the election all the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI)  were gathered at the Municipal Hall to prepare the ballot box and election paraphernalia that will be use for Barangay and SK election.

As early as 6’oclock in the morning almost all of the BEI were in the municipal hall waiting for the vehicles to transport them to their respective polling place. 90 percent of the BEI were teachers and the rest were employees from the government and private offices. All the BEI should be in their polling place before 7:30 A.M. because the voting will start at exactly 7:30 in the morning.

Most of the voter’s today are intelligence voters because they want to vote or choose the candidates   that they think will serve the community truly and will help in solving community’s/barangay’s problems.

Most of the Barangay and SK candidates were hoping to get their constituents support, neighbors, friends and supporters so they can serve their respective barangay and can help their barangay to progress and at the same time get the privileges of any elected Barangay officials.

During the counting of votes almost all of the candidate’s families, supporters and even the candidates closely monitored the counting and tally of votes.

All the members of the BEI were doing extra effort to guarantee to have an orderly Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election.

PSI Chrisme Bustaliño Officer in Charge of PNP Calamba deployed/placed the PNP personnel in all the barangays in Calamba to guard against fraud and violence and to keep a close watch to polling place to secure a peaceful election and to serve as warning to whoever might plan or planning to disturb the elections. Security measures in all the barangays in Calamba were tightened. The PNP operated for 24 hours straight just to monitor the Barangays and SK Election.

Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election in Calamba were generally successful and peaceful. From the start until the counting of votes of the Barangay and SK election there is no reported election-related violence cases and no failure of elections reported.
