Rizal Day 2025

December 30, 2025, marked the celebration of Rizal Day, a Philippine national holiday honoring the life, work, and martyrdom of the country‘s National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. This significant observance commemorated the 129^th anniversary of his execution, serving as a solemn reminder of his sacrifices for freedom and national identity. Commemorative activities, including a flag-raising ceremony and wreath laying at Rizal Rotonda, were conducted to pay tribute to his legacy. The occasion also reaffirmed the enduring relevance of Rizal’s ideals of patriotism, justice, and the pursuit of knowledge, with the 2025 theme emphasizing his teachings as a guiding force toward national unity and progress.

PAMASKONG HANDOG 2025

On December 20-21, 2025, the distribution, of the Asenso Misamis Occidental 2025 Pamaskong handong para sa mga Misamisnon was successfully conducted to the Barangay assign. The activity was led by the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental under the leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, together with Vice Governor Hon. Rowena L. Gutierrez, Congressman (1^st District) Hon, Jason P. Almonte, together Provincial board Member Hon. Winston “Don don” Catane, Alenjandro Jr. “Alex” Guantero, Hon. Rosanne Marie “Tata” Paylaga Lim, and Hon. Agnes Villanueva.

Also present during the activity were Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr,. MNSA, Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, and the member of the Sanguniang Bayan, who joined in extending support to the beneficiaries.

This year’s Pamaskong Handog benefitted a total of 5,846 families from 19 barangay of Calamba. The distribution schedule was as follow.

December 20, 2021, Mamalad, Singalat, Siloy, Bonifacio, Mauswagon, Salvador, Bunawan, Dapacan Alto, Dapacan Bajo, and Libertad.

December 21, 2025, DBAN, Northern Pob. Solinog, Southwestern Pob. Langub and Magcamiguing.

Each beneficiary family received food packs and five (5) kilograms rice, bringing relief and joy to households it the spirit of the holiday season. The program aim to spread holiday cheer the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring joy, peace and unity among Misamisnoon families. Governor Oaminal also encouraged resident to continue supporting the government’s initiatives anchored on the 5Ms: Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon Malambuon, ug Malipayon.

Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act

ORIENTATION

On December 03, 2025, the Local Government Unit of Calamba conducted an Orientation on the Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act, alongside a season on Fostering a Gender- Inclusive Workplace for public officials and employees. This activity aimed to strengthen the LGU’s commitment to safeguarding the right of women and children, while also promoting a workplace environment to uphold equality, respect, and inclusiveness among its workforce.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr. MNSA, formally opened the program with his opening remark, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and awareness in preventing violence and ensuring the government offices remain safe spaces for all.

This was followed by May F. Dominisac, who delivered the Introduction of Resources Speakers, high lighting their expertise and contribution to the field of justice and gender advocacy.

The First topic, fostering a Gender-Inclusive Workplace was discussed by Hon. Florence D. Lagcao-Rosabal, Presiding Judge of the 1^st MCTC Calamba-Baliagao, Misamis Occidental. She shared insight on gender sensitivity, workplace inclusivity, and the role of LGU employees in promoting fair and respectful treatment of all individuals, regardless of gender.

The orientation also feature Hon. Michael L. Ajoc, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 36, who provided an in-depth discussion on the VAWC Act, He explained the legal frameworks, protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers in handling VAWC-related cases. His discussion helped participant’s better understanding how to support victim, uphold the law, and prevent abuse within the community,

The activity served as a meaningful opportunity for LGU employees to deepen their understanding of gender-related issues and strengthen their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace for everyone.

LGU CALAMBA CHRISTMAS PARTY 2025

LGU CALAMBA CHRISTMAS PARTY 2025

On December 19, 2025, the Local Government Unit (LGU) Employees’ Christmas party was held at 4:00PM at the Minicipal Gymnasium, The event was led by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, Vice mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, together with Sanguniang Bayan Member and Heads of offices.

The program officially started with Entrance of Colors, followed by the Opening Prayer led by Ms. May F. Dominisac. This was succeeded by the Singing of “Lupang Hinirang” and the Calamba March, performed by the Calamba Symphonic Band. Vice Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva then delivered the Opening Message.

Special song rendition of “Trouble Is a Friend” and Love Of my Life” were performed by AR. Nicole Elyze T. Cuenca and Ms. Mao Zedee Rapal, adding warmth and entertainment to the celebration. The Giving of Plaques of Appreciation to the 2025 LGU Retirees followed, led by Ms. Rosiegen B. Manigsaca (HRMO), Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva and the Sanguniang Bayan Member.

The Municipal Mayor delivered his special message, expressing gratitude and appreciation to all LGU employees. This was followed by presentation number cluster, namely: Cluster A-Legislative, Cluster B-National Agencies, and Cluster C- Executive (1^st Floor), Cluster D- Executive (outside), and Cluster E-Executive (2^nd Floor).

A fellowship dinner was shared by everyone, followed by an exciting raffle draw. The employees were visibly happy and enjoyed the celebration making the event a memorable and successful one.

LGU CHRISTMAS DÉCOR CONTEST 2025

On December 01, 2025, the Switch-On Night and First Judging was held at the Calamba Municipal Ground, led by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, together with Vice mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, the Sangguniang Bayan Member, and government employees.

The program began with an opening prayer by May F. Dominisac, follow by the National Anthem and Calamba March performed by the Symphonic Band.

Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva delivered the welcome message, followed by Maria Corazon T. Descallar who introduces the panel of judges. Engr. Noel O. Palma then read the criteria for judging.

Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., gave an inspiring message and officially declared the Opening of light which was immediately followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

The Calambahanons, along with visitors from neighboring municipalities, enjoyed to witnessing opening of lights.
