The blessing and turning-over ceremony of single box culvert and road concreting of Suan-Tumilap St. of Barangay Southwestern, Calamba, Misamis Occidental held last July 15, 2008. The said road located along Suan-Tumilap St. was financed by Philippines-Australia Local Sustainability (PALS) headed by PALS-Australian Team Leader Mr. Sam Chittick and Barangay Southwestern Poblacion of this municipality headed by Barangay Captain Ezel T. Villanueva. The construction of the project was funded by PALS worth P 300,000.00 with a counterpart of P 75,000.00 from the 20% Development Fund of Barangay Southwestern Poblacion. The total construction of the project is P375,000.00. |

Mr. Juanito R. Duhaylungsod of Dapacan Alto, Calamba, Misamis Occidental received the Leadership in Excellence Award-People’s Organization Leader for his contribution as the People’s Organization Leader of Dapacan Alto Farmer’s Organization (DAFO) while Dapacan Alto Farmer’s Organization (DAFO) awarded as the second award winning for Most Outstanding Organization and the Dapacan Alto Barangay Council got the second award for Most Outstanding Barangay Development Council during the Awards and Recognition Night Ceremony held last June 23, 2008, 7 o’clock in the evening at Cultural Center, Provincial Capitol, Oroquieta City. |

The Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental commemorates the 110th Independence Day Celebration. It is a nationwide celebration of the proclamation of the Philippine Independence Day held last June 12, 2008 with this year’s theme: “REPUBLIC SERVICE, TUNGO SA GANAP NA KALAYAAN AT KAUNLARAN”. Filipinos from all walks of life all over the country and in abroad; public and private employees; government officials from the Barangays, Local, Provincial and National spearheaded by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo simultaneously celebrating the 110th Philippine Independence Day. |
