MUNICIPALITY OF CALAMBA, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL COMMEMORATES 122ND PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY ON JUNE 12, 2020.
The Municipal Government of Calamba in the Province of Missamis Occidental commemorates the 122nd Philippine Independence Day On June 12, 2020 with a “simple celebration” at the Rizal Rotonda in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva instructed Local Government and Private Agencies to send a representative for the simple but meaningful celebration of Independence Day to honor the sacrifices of our past heroes and Filipino revolutionaries who had offered their blood and labor just for us to enjoy the freedom we have right now by offering bouquets of flowers at the foot of Dr. Jose Rizal’s monument.
The celebration was attended by former Mayor Jun Villanueva with the Local Government officials, department heads, and other government and private agencies.
This year’s theme is “Kalayaan 2020: Tungo sa Bansang Malaya, Nagbabayanihan, at Ligtas.
Heath protocols as well as the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) that the attendees of the celebration will follow the wearing of face mask and maintained physical social distancing.
Calambahanons indigent senior citizen’s received their 2020 First Semester Stipend Social Pension
2,153 Calambahanons indigent senior citizens have received their stipend for the first semester of 2020 under the government’s Social Pension (SocPen) Program of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) last June 3, 4, and 5, 2020.
DSWD released their six months’ worth of social pension that covers January to June this year, amounting to more than P6 million.
The total number of beneficiaries served by SocPen from 19 barangay,
Under SocPen, which is provided for by Republic Act No. 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010,” qualified indigent senior citizens receive a monthly stipend of P500 to help augment their daily subsistence and other medical needs during the Covid 19 pandemic.
It is distributed on a semestral basis at PHP3,000 per semester or PHP500 per month for six months.
The law specifies that senior citizens qualified to receive social pension are those who are frail, sickly or with disability; without any pension from other government agencies; and without a permanent source of income or source of financial assistance/compensation to support their basic needs.
During the released/payout, DSWD ensure the safety and health protocols in determining the best payout method to lessen the exposure of its beneficiaries and personnel to the coronavirus disease.
Wearing of face mask and physical social distancing was strictly implemented during the said payout.
The Municipality of Calamba along with the surrenderees of Oplan Tokhang and PNP Personnel spearheaded the R.A.I.D or Run Against Illegal Drugs. RAID was implemented at the Provincial Police Office and then it was implemented by our Local Government Unit as a part of the CBRP or the Community Based Rehab Program. Among the participating barangays are Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri, Barangay Southwestern Poblacion, Barangay Northern Poblacion, Barangay Solinog, Barangay Bunawan, and Barangay Calaran.
The municipality of Calamba Spearheaded the Oplan Tokhang's Community Based Rehab Program Culmination day. On February 9, 2018 at Moelci I. It the program started with a reflection given by Rev. Pastor David Cunahap of Bible Baptist Church, and it was followed by Dr. Rodolfo C. Borbon and he certifies that the surrenderees has completed the 180 hours rehab and has not taken the Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or also known as shabu along the rehab. Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, the PDEA Provincial Officer, the DILG Provincial Director, PNP Provincial Director also given their messages on the surrenderees and it was followed by Giving of Certificated and Food Packs. The Blessing of 1 unit meat van, 1 unit road grader and 1 unit road roller, was spearheaded by our Municipal Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva along with Municipal Vice Mayor Antonio N. Lawas and Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon.Rodrigo Garcia, Hon.Caridad Lansang and Hon.Joseph Malayao.
