LGU CALAMBA TECH4ED CENTER LAUNCHING
Calamba Launches Tech4ED Center, Strengthens Digital Inclusion Calamba, Misamis Occidental — The Municipality of Calamba, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), officially launched the Tech4ED Project and inaugurated the new Tech4ED Center on July 3, 2017. The initiative aims to bridge gaps in education, livelihood, and government services by providing inclusive access to digital resources and opportunities. During the program, Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva underscored the importance of embracing technology for community development, while DICT representatives Mr. Felix Tabanao and Mr. Eugene C. Raposala III shared insights on how Tech4ED can uplift local communities. A key highlight was the announcement of upcoming JUAN KONEK public Wi-Fi hotspots at the Municipal Plaza, Calamba Public Market/Terminal, Calamba District Hospital, and Calamba Comprehensive National High School. The launching of the Tech4ED Center and JUAN KONEK reflects the strong commitment of the local government and DICT to promote digital empowerment and ensure that every Calambahanon’s has the opportunity to thrive in the digital age.
What is Tech4ed Center
A Tech4ED Center is a shared facility established by the Philippines' Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) that provides communities with minimal or no access to critical ICT-enabled services. The initiative, which stands for Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs, and Economic Development, aims to bridge the digital divide in the Philippines.
Primary Services:
eEduSkills: Provides online access to e-learning and skills training, including the Alternative Learning System for out of school youth and adults.
eAssist: Offers skills training for special sectors, such as persons with disabilities, to help them meet industry demands.
eGovServ: Gives communities direct access to a variety of government services and application forms online.
mAgri: Uses technology to provide agricultural information to farmers and fishermen, helping to improve productivity.
eMarketplace: Allows entrepreneurs, especially those in rural areas, to expand their market reach through the internet.
Online Jobs Rural Impact Sourcing : Promotes ICT-enabled work, especially online freelancing, to help residents find employment opportunities within their communities.
Starbooks: Provides access to a digital library of science and technology resources.
Digital literacy training: Helps citizens improve their computer and internet competencies.

Digital and Technical skills
· Digital literacy training: Courses to help citizens, including students, teachers, and senior citizens, improve their fundamental computer and internet competencies.
· ICT for entrepreneurs: Training on using information and communications technology ICT to start a business and expand its market reach.
· Rural Impact Sourcing RIS: Modules that train individuals in rural communities to become online freelancers, covering topics like client management and online marketing.
· Specialized courses: Some centers offer more advanced training in fields like data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Business and career development
· ICT for career development: Helps individuals build competencies relevant to a particular industry to secure higher-level jobs.
· Basic taxation and bookkeeping: Specialized training for micro, small, and medium enterprises MSMEs and budding entrepreneurs.
