The Local Government Unit of Calamba launched its new information technology center which is called Farmers’ Information and Technology Service Center (FITS Center) or Techo Pinoy Center. The launching of the FITS Center was held on December 22, 2006. The FITS Center is located at the eCenter, Municipal Building, Calamba, Misamis Occidental.

    Dir. Angelito C. Alolod, Regional Director of DOST 10 and Municipal Mayor Dr.  Luisito B. Villanueva, Jr., MNSA initiated the cutting of ribbon to formally open to the public the FITS Center in Calamba. Guest were Ms. Ritchie Mae B. Lumilang, Science Research Assistant, Ms. Joan Dalagan, NOMCARRD Staff. Present during the launching were employees from the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, Sangguniang Bayan members, Barangay Captains from the 19 Barangays of Calamba.
 

   

    Regional Techno Gabay Coordinator, Director Virgilio M. Fuentes presented the techno Gabay Program. The Memorandum of Agreement signing was done during the FITS launching. The launching of the Farmers’ Information and Technology Service Center (FITS) or Techno Pinoy center formally symbolizes the opening of the services in the municipality to provide information, education and the needs of the farmers about the newest farming technologies.

Services Offered by the Farmers’ Information and Technology Service Center:

Information Services:

• Analysis and package the information needs of farmers.
• Design, conduct and evaluation training program that would give information, and education of newest farming technology.
• Provide references and other information materials either in video, print and non-print materials.
• Exhibits of new farming technology.
• Provide information services, resources, databases and others.

Technology Services :

• Farming technology training center 
• Link the farmers to modern agricultural procedures that will help them to have a better agricultural production.
• Link the farmers to financing institution.
